Do not believe someone who tells you “an Anti-Virus is an Anti-Virus is an Anti-Virus” or that any anti-virus is better than none. People who subscribe to one of these two notions almost always end up getting a virus.
Not all Anti-Virus software is created equal, either! In fact, some of the free anti-virus software, advertised on the internet, has viruses, adware and/or spyware embedded in it. So some of this anti-virus software is more detrimental to the performance of your system than it is helpful in preventing viruses.
